AN OVERVIEW
Kolkata Metro is a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) project in the city. Line-1 of KMRL commenced in 1972. Kolkata Metro is the fifth operational metro network in India.
The Line presently consists of 2 operational lines from Noapara to Kavi Subhash with a distance of 27.22 km & from Salt Lake Sector V to Salt Lake Stadium with a length of 5.8 km.

Status: This line is on hold. Its route was proposed to follow Barrackpore Trunk Road, but may follow Kalyani Expressway instead. When operational, it might function as an extension/spur of Line 1.
